The leather bomber jackets we see in popular stores today have been around longer than we can imagine.

Brown leather jackets portray a composed sensational feeling of peacefulness of the wearer, and come in various shades of brown.
The first flight jackets designed and made for British bomber pilots during the First World War, were made of tanned leather, because it was believed that leather bomber jackets would be most effective in keeping them warm in the rarified air.

When the Second World War broke out, the US Air Corp and Navy and Marine Corp issued pilots with warmer, more stylish, waist-length leather bomber jackets.

The original leather bomber jackets have become collectors' items, and there are some leather craftsmen who make beautiful replicas of the fleece lined leather jackets of old.

Not quite the same, but very similar to bomber jackets, black leather motorcycle jackets have also become hugely popular. While traditional leather bomber jackets were brown, in the mid-20th century black became a much more popular color.

Nowadays both black and brown are esteemed by celebs that are spotted wearing all kinds of leather jackets.

While the original jackets handed out to bomber pilots were really just practical safety clothing items, black leather bomber jackets have become high fashion.
